Descubre Islandia is a travel agency specializing in the design, marketing, and operation of personalized travel experiences in Iceland.

By accessing and using this website, the user accepts these Terms and Conditions.

Scope of Service

Descubre Islandia acts as:

  • Designer of custom travel experiences
  • Intermediary between the client and local providers (hotels, operators, transportation, guides, etc.)

The agency does not directly provide every service, but rather coordinates and manages the experience as a whole.

Booking Process

  • Bookings are formalized through written confirmation (email or platform).
  • Bookings are secured with a 40% deposit. The remaining 60% must be paid no later than 60 days prior to the start of services. (This timeframe may vary depending on the total value of the experience.)
  • The itinerary provided is for reference purposes until final confirmation.
  • Availability and pricing are subject to change until final issuance.

Pricing and Payments

  • All prices are quoted in ISK; USD/EUR values are provided for reference only.
  • Prices may vary based on:
    • Availability
    • Season
    • Exchange rate
  • Payment may be made via:
    • Bank transfer
    • Authorized payment platforms

The booking is confirmed only once payment has been received.

  • In the event of delayed payment, Descubre Islandia reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled, withdraw confirmation of services, and retain 100% of the initial deposit.

Cancellation and Modification Policies

  • All cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@descubreislandia.is.
  • A full charge will apply to cancellations made 0 to 7 days before the arrival date, or in the case of a no-show.
  • Cancellations made within 45 days of the arrival date will incur a 50% charge.
  • Cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date will incur a 100% charge.
  • All outdoor activities are weather- and condition-dependent; accordingly, Descubre Islandia reserves the right to modify the itinerary or cancel certain activities due to weather factors. Activities cancelled for these reasons are fully refunded — traveler safety is our top priority.
  • In the event of force majeure causing this contract to remain unpaid in full at least thirty (30) calendar days before the travel date, a 100% penalty will apply to the amount paid corresponding to the 40% deposit of the total tour package value.
  • If, due to an unforeseeable event or force majeure, the client is unable to travel on the agreed dates after full payment has already been disbursed as agreed by both parties, the respective bookings will be cancelled. The parties must then agree on a new travel date with rates recalculated according to season and subject to availability, or terminate the contract subject to applicable penalties plus any rate adjustment when installment payments are made after the date set as the “final installment payment date.”

Responsibilities

The client is responsible for:

  • Holding valid documentation (passport, visas where applicable).
  • Complying with immigration and health requirements.
  • Purchasing travel insurance (highly recommended).

Descubre Islandia acts as:

  • An intermediary between the client and providers.
  • Descubre Islandia is not responsible for:
    • Third-party non-compliance
    • Flight delays
    • Weather conditions
    • Force majeure

Travel Insurance

Descubre Islandia recommends purchasing insurance that covers:

  • Cancellations
  • Accidents
  • Illness
  • Lost luggage

Special Conditions

Iceland presents particular conditions, including:

  • Extreme and unpredictable weather changes
  • Possible road or attraction closures
  • Itinerary adjustments for safety reasons

Terms of Use

No-Show
